True love kept apart by distance!

My husband and I eloped on March 23, 2010. I live in Canada and my love lives in the Dominican Republic. Due to a very slow immigration process, we have been physically apart for most of our marriage, but we continue to grow closer every single day. Our love life line has been skype and Bob Marley! I havn't seen my husband in 6 months and this honeymoon week together would mean the world to us!! We have had to skip our "honeymoon" stage and focus on the tougher side of love with strength as we combat distance with trust, devotion, respect, and patience. My husband is the love of my life, and being away from the most important person to you is the most difficult thing for your heart and soul to endure.

We truly had "love at first sight". We first "met" online through a mutual friend and we spoke for months, developing a strong love before we physically met in person. I flew to his city in the Dominican Republic and as I anxiously got off of the plane my soul felt at ease when I saw him. It was like we had been together for our whole lives and everything flowed and continues to flow so naturally and effortlessly. We knew then and there that we’d walk together through all that life had in store for us as best friends and lovers.

There is something so unique and romantic about tree houses! They are mystical and magical – I just imagine spending my time cuddled up and warm with my love on a cold evening in a beautiful tree house, surrounded by nature or happily swinging in hammocks on the deck of our tree house, enjoying the sunshine and reggae music on a beautiful warm day! Ohh, what an enticing scene! I’ve always had a love for tree houses, and I imagine traveling through different countries with my husband, experiencing all the different tree houses that the world has to offer us. Romance!
We are all about unique accommodations. Tell us three things about your home together that are unique to you as a couple.
Well, my husband and I don’t live together right now, due to our ongoing immigration process. But...
We both love hammocks! We have a wonderful hammock on our balcony in Canada, and my husband has a hammock at his home in the Dominican... it’s so nice because we can be on our laptops on a sunny day, speaking to each other and swinging in our hammocks..we can day dream and it almost feels like we are laying in them together!
As the months have gone by since we were married, and we spend our time in different countries, we’ve created books for each other that include pictures, quotes, art work, etc. We both have one of these books in our homes which bring a piece of our love into our homes and remind ourselves and our friends of our love.
Last but not least, flowers! Our balcony in Canada is covered in flowers, as is our home in the Dominican Republic. We both enjoy having a colourful outdoors! We look forward to the day when we’re living together and can give our garden as much love as we give each other.

Oh boy... I've been harassed by Nestor so many times on Facebook to get these votes in... seriously, he doesn't even say "hello" anymore... and I'm glad! I don't know Emma anymore than the wonderful words that Nestor shares about her, and the fact that she's strong enough to endure the turmoils of distance, that speaks highly of the person she is. Well, I don't know you at all. And to be honest, I am super bummed that I only have 18 votes (most of them me voting) sad right?! Any ways my fiance and I can hardly afford to get married. We are going to have to get a payday loan from everyplace in town before we hit the beach for our barefoot ceremony in August. We will most likely turn right around and come home. That being said, I needed to check out the entry that is SO far ahead of everyone else. And man, I am so thankful for having my man in my arms every night. I could not imagine. I have been friends with Emma since we were children. I have never seen her happier than when she is talking about Nestor. I didn't even know if I believed in love at first sight until Emma met Nestor. They are truly soulmates and there is nobody more deserving of a much needed honeymoon!! While I have yet to meet Nestor, I know that he is a very lucky man to have won Emma's heart. I have known Emma since we were young, and you would be hard pressed to find someone more deserving of this honeymoon trip. She is a truly lovely (and loving!) person and to hear of her being separated from her husband, the man she loves and chooses to spend the rest of her life with, is so sad.
